Tennis, Music and Friends – 6th and 7th November!

Hello everyone! We are really excited about our fundraiser event. Its our first big one so we’re hoping you will help us make it a resounding success! It’s combining all the things that I love best, tennis, music and of course you! It will take place at the Samuell Grand Tennis Center which is located in Samuell Grand Park, a beautiful park located in Dallas just south of Whiterock at 6200 East Grand Avenue, Dallas, TX 75223. The event will take place on the 6th and 7th of November, with lots of tennis for all you tennis enthusiasts.
And, if the tournament itself is not enough tennis for you we will be providing drills through the day by the able pros at Samuell Grand – Sue and Duey and some other guest pros. We will also have some unique items for auction – I don’t mind saying – I think they’re pretty special! They include a custom guitar, a beautiful African leather rug, three divine cakes from La Dunis, and a wonderful painting by Angela C. Alexander. There will be a raffle, with drawings all through the day, giving you a chance to win some tennis memorabilia! In the late afternoon on the park grounds and evenings in the Amphitheatre we will have some music from some rockin’ Dallas DJs! But – that’s not all! We will serve you delicious African tidbits, all through the day, and even provide you with beverages, some alcoholic, as you soak in the tennis, the wonderful park surrounds and music.

We will have a number of stands, set up in the style of a typical village market, to give you the african village market experience! At those stands we will be selling some african jewellery by our friends at ‘The Women of Kireka’.

Working Hands - Women of Kireka

We will also have an exhibition by Melonie Kastman on ‘Forgotten Diamonds’; a project which has built and is running a library for some 21,000 children in Bonthe in the mining district of Sierra Leone.

Melonie’s experience in building a library for the children in Sierra Leone is providing us with valuable help and insight; make sure you take time to listen to her story; it is simply inspirational.

Forgotten Diamonds

There will be an exhibition by the Greyhound Adoption League of Texas, run by our good friends Jhon Whittaker and Eddie Estrada, whose three greyhounds, Devra, Dionysis and Cassia are avid book lovers themselves! They will have a WINE BASKET Raffle going both days and the hounds insist we donate the proceeds, so bring your $5.00 bills with you!

We will have a stand featuring some story panels from the children at the Fellowship Christian Academy at Oak Cliff, on their perspective on village libraries and the children they serve. Each panel you buy helps us to reach our fundraising goal!

Hi Kelly – I’ve sent you an email response but I’ll reply here also. Yes it is open play – play will begin at 9:30 am on both days but you can come at any time between then and 5 pm (earlier of we don’t have a lot of people show). You can play both days or either day – the registration fee is the same regardless – but you do get a 25% percent reduction if you bring a book or two! Do please come out – we would love to see you there!
